Questions We Hear Most Weeks
Didn't find your question below? Call the studio. We'd rather talk it through ahead of time than have you show up unsure of what to expect.
What is the sand tray, exactly?
It's a shallow bin refilled with sand pulled from real bunkers around Broward County, sitting right next to the fitting chairs. Instead of asking how a wedge "should" perform in sand based on its printed number, we hit into the tray and watch what actually happens.
Is turf testing only useful for wedges?
Not at all. Wedges get the most attention because bounce and grind matter most there, but the turf sled comes into play for iron fittings too — sole width and leading-edge shape affect contact on full-swing shots even without any sand involved.
Does grinding a wedge affect the manufacturer warranty?
Typically not in a way that concerns most players — warranties usually cover defects in materials or construction, and a sole grind sits in the same category as a shaft swap or a loft bend. We'll walk you through the specifics before we start any work, and nothing gets ground without your go-ahead on the exact plan first.
What's a realistic session length?
Plan on 40 to 55 minutes for one wedge with a grind pass. A complete bag — demo comparison, turf and sand testing, the whole process — usually lands somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes. We build real time into the schedule so nobody's session feels rushed at the end.
Does it matter where my clubs came from?
No. A large share of what we grind wasn't purchased here originally, and that's completely fine — we'll test and work on equipment from any retailer. If a specific head just isn't a strong candidate for the grind you want, we'll say so upfront rather than force it.
Should I plan on a regrind when the seasons change?
A fair number of our repeat clients do, since Broward's winter rye overseed plays noticeably different from the bermuda underneath it. We keep every fitting card on file, so a seasonal touch-up starts from your actual measured history instead of guesswork.
Can I demo equipment there, or is it grind-only?
We keep a rotating demo wall stocked across several major brands specifically for side-by-side comparisons. Check the Our Brands page to see what's currently available.
When should I book relative to when I want to play?
A single-wedge consult can often be arranged within a few days. Full bag sessions and weekend slots during peak season fill up faster, so give yourself roughly two weeks of runway if your date is fixed.
Can I just stop by without an appointment?
You're welcome to drop in and take a look at the sand tray, but actual fitting and grinding sessions are scheduled in advance so each client gets a proper, unrushed block of the day.
